bitter Liqueur
Our Fernet #4 was developed from a deep love for Italian amari and historic liqueurs. It utilizes a traditional rhubarb root base with the addition of chamomile for bitter tea notes, saffron for savory spice and eucalyptus for a fresh finish. The result is a herb forward spirit with spice and balanced bitterness that is further refined with a rest in our ex-bourbon barrels.
Fernet is a subcategory of Italian Amaro, the traditional bitter liqueurs of Italy that have recently found a new home on the bar backs across the nation. As a category, Fernet is difficult to pin down but is traditionally a spirit that is very herb forward and quite bitter with only a light amount of sweetness added to bring out the rich flavors of the botanical build.
